This site is owned and operated by Correct Checks, Inc. Your privacy on the Internet is of utmost importance to us. At Correct Checks, Inc., we want to make your experience online satisfying and safe. Because we gather certain types of information about our users, we feel you should fully understand our policy and the terms and conditions surrounding the capture and use of that information. This privacy statement discloses what information we gather and how we use it.
INFORMATION WE GATHER
Our clients provide us with personally identifiable information of individuals so we may prepare a report upon their request. (These reports are referred to by several different names including: Investigative Consumer Report, Background Verification Report; Background Check, and others.) In all cases, our clients have certified to Correct Checks, Inc. that
- They (the client) will provide disclosure to the subject of the report that a background investigation will be performed and
- Personal data may be gathered for the purpose of completing the Background Verification Report.
- They (the client) will receive consent from the individual before a Background Verification Report is requested.
Personal information gathered may include employment and education history, driver's license information, reference information and other credentials related to an individual. Correct Checks, Inc. will use such information only for the purposes of performing background screening including to verify the accuracy of the personal information and to check references. In addition to the data that is submitted Correct Checks, Inc. by our clients, Correct Checks, Inc. may collect data from third parties as needed to process education, employment, credit reports, driving records, criminal history records and other lawful background checks. A Background Verification Report may be prepared summarizing this information. Prior employers and/or references may be contacted, and the report may include information obtained through personal interviews or other methods, regarding the individual's character, general reputation, personal characteristics and/or mode of living. We may provide all such information to our client (for example, your current or prospective employer) in one or more reports. We will retain your information only as long as is needed to accomplish the business purpose for which it was collected.
CHOICE
If you are a U.S. resident and do not wish to have your personal data made available to our client (your current or prospective employer, for example), please do not authorize our client to procure a Background Verification Report. By consenting to the procurement of a Background Investigation Report and submitting information to our client, you are agreeing to allow Correct Checks, Inc. to disclose information about you to our client and to our sharing that information with our subcontractors.
TRANSFERS TO THIRD PARTIES
Directly related with our providing services, we may in some instances employ other companies and individuals as our subcontractors to perform functions on our behalf. Subcontractors are contractually obligated to use and maintain the confidentiality of personal information in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy. These companies and individuals may not share any such information with any third party, other than Correct Checks, Inc.'s subcontractors or clients. Except as described in this Privacy Policy or required by law, we will not use or otherwise disclose any of the personally identifying information that you provide or that we collect from third parties or other sources. Correct Checks, Inc does not sell personal information to third parties. All information given is used for only the purpose(s) as outlined in this privacy policy.
PERSONAL INFORMATION DISCLOSURE
All work for domestic Background Investigation Reports is done exclusively within the United States and all data is retained within the United States. For individuals with history and/or experience outside of the U.S., upon the request of our client, Correct Checks, Inc. may contact information sources outside the United States for the purpose of completing the applicable portion of the Background Verification Report.
SECURITY
Correct Checks, Inc. has taken all appropriate measures to ensure the security of personal data. Any personal data transmitted to or from our site is protected by a secure socket layer (SSL) key which encrypts the data transmitted over the Internet. Personal data on our servers is stored in a secure manner. Access to those servers and data is strictly limited to authorized personnel of Correct Checks, Inc. who have been trained to protect against loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction of personal data under the control of Correct Checks, Inc.
DATA INTEGRITY
Correct Checks, Inc. will only process the personally identifiable information of individuals in the manner for which it was provided to us for employment screening purposes. We take all reasonable steps to ensure the information we prepare is up to date, accurate, and appropriate for use by our clients.
ENFORCEMENT
Correct Checks, Inc. utilizes periodic internal audit procedures to ensure adherence to this Privacy Policy as well as all other internal processes related to security, privacy, and confidentiality. Correct Checks, Inc is responsible for ensuring all policies are accurate and adhered to by all personnel. Individuals and clients are encouraged to contact us directly to address any concerns regarding this or any other policy generally or any specific concern or dispute regarding information we have prepared. We will investigate and attempt to resolve any disputes in a timely manner. In the event that a dispute is not resolved to the satisfaction of the individual who is the subject of the report, such individual may include his/her own statement within the Background Verification Report addressing any discrepancies. In the event that the above courses of action do not resolve the dispute to the satisfaction of all parties, Correct Checks agrees to cooperate with an independent third party resolution provider.
ACCESS
All subjects of consumer reports have the right of access to any reports Correct Checks, Inc produces and maintains on them. You may contact Correct Checks, Inc as set out at the end of this Privacy Policy to determine whether we hold any personal information about you and to obtain access to that information. For your protection, we will require proof of identity, including proper verification and confirmation that you are the individual who is entitled to request access, before providing information to you. We will mail to you if you are a U.S. resident a copy of the report about you within 7 days, as it has been provided to our client, at no charge (as mandated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act).
CHILDREN
Consistent with the Federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), we will never knowingly request personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13 without requesting parental consent.
